THE BRIEF

Create an identity, invites and decorations for the second birthday party of Glasgow-based Construction Cost Consultant, Neilson Binne McKenzie.

THE SOLUTION

The problem with parties is that no matter how great your invite, or how often you ask the intended guests, it's nearly always impossible to know who's turning up until the night, so after nailing down a look and theme that sat well with NBM's identity, First Son suggested the use of a series of HTML email invites to the guest list with a corresponding microsite / reply form. Of the first batch more than 70% of the guests responded the very same day. Those guests were then removed from the database and the remainder were emailled again.

By using emails over printed invites First Son saved the client significant costs which could then be turned over into some extra cool decorations for use on the night instead of decorating in-trays and waste paper baskets. This is the kind of design - technology blend First Son believes in: simple, cost-effective, stylish and relevant to client and audience.
